The Janazah prayer earlier scheduled to hold at 4:00pm today for the repose of the late Chief Imam of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Ulama, Shaykh (Dr) Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih, OON, has been postponed.
The Janazah will now take place on Tuesday, 20th January 2026, at the Emir’s Palace Square, Ilorin, by 10:00am.
The postponement followed the approval of the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, due to the late arrival of the corpse from Abuja.
This development was contained in a statement issued by the Press Secretary to the Emir, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona, who noted that the demise of the revered Islamic scholar has created a wide vacuum in the Ilorin Emirate and beyond.
The Emir urged members of the public to attend the spiritual gathering and continue to pray for Allah’s mercy and forgiveness for the departed soul.
Recall that the 12th Chief Imam of Ilorin, Shaykh (Dr) Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih, OON, passed away at the age of 75 after a brief illness.
