Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih, OON, describing his passing as a great loss to Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and the Muslim Ummah.
In a condolence message issued on Monday, the Governor said he was “saddened by the unfortunate death of the Chief Imam of Ilorin,” noting that Sheikh Muhammad Bashir died on Monday morning in Abuja at the age of 75.
“The Chief Imam died on Monday morning in Abuja as Allaah has unquestionably decreed for His servants,” AbdulRazaq said.
The Governor described the late cleric as one of the finest representatives of Islamic scholarship in Ilorin’s history, whose death serves as a reminder of life’s transience.
“Sheikh Muhammad Bashir represented the finest breed of Muslim scholarship in the history of Ilorin, and his passing — shocking, depressing, and saddening as it is — again reminds us that even great men die,” he stated.
Governor AbdulRazaq said the late Chief Imam would be remembered for his exceptional scholarship, patience, and exemplary leadership as the foremost Imam in the state.
“He will be missed for his uniquely outstanding scholarship, his patience and good nature, and his fine qualities as the leading Imam in our state,” the Governor added.
He extended his condolences to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, OFR, the Ilorin Emirate, the Kwara State Council of Ulamah, and the immediate family of the deceased.
The Governor also offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Islamic scholar.
“I ask Allaah to accept Imam Muhammad Bashir as His dutiful servant, forgive his imperfections, ease his accounts, elevate his rank in Al-Jannah Firdaus, and uphold his family and the community upon goodness,” AbdulRazaq prayed.
Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih was a respected Islamic scholar and spiritual leader who served as the Chief Imam of Ilorin until his death.
