... Commend Governor AbdulRazaq
The Kwara State Polytechnic Worldwide Alumni Association has appealed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to reconsider and reinstate the Rector of the institution, Dr. Engr. Abdul Jimoh, following recent developments at the Polytechnic.
In a statement issued today by its National Publicity Secretary (Elect) Comrade Tajudeen Habeeb (Tallest), the association’s duly elected National Executive Council (NEC), speaking on behalf of alumni across the world, reaffirmed its support for the governor’s leadership and his administration’s reforms in the education sector. The NEC was elected on December 16, 2024.
The alumni’s request comes in the wake of the state government’s directive asking the Rector to step aside after a student protest that occurred on January 21, 2026. According to the association, the development has created uncertainty within the Polytechnic community.
In a statement, the alumni body acknowledged Governor AbdulRazaq’s interventions in education and described the Polytechnic’s management under Dr. Jimoh as a key partner in implementing the administration’s vision. The association noted that the institution has recorded stability and progress over the past five years, citing improvements in infrastructure, staff welfare, and student management.
The NEC clarified that its appeal was not intended to excuse any perceived shortcomings but to highlight what it described as a proven record of leadership and collaboration with the state government. It maintained that the current management has consistently aligned with the governor’s developmental agenda for the education sector.
As major stakeholders, the alumni called for a compassionate review of the decision, expressing the belief that reinstating the Rector would help restore stability and ensure continuity in the institution’s growth.
The association also pledged its continued support for the Kwara State Government’s development initiatives, both at the Polytechnic and across the state.
