The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kwara Area Command, on Monday witnessed a formal transition of leadership as the outgoing Area Controller, Comptroller Faith Mathew Ojeifo, handed over to the incoming Acting Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Najeem Akanmu Ogundeyi.
The development was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement signed by the Command's Spokesperson, SM Suleiman, Deputy Superintendent of Customs, Nigeria Customs Service, Kwara Area Command.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Comptroller Ojeifo expressed deep appreciation to officers and men of the Command, sister security agencies, and key stakeholders for their cooperation and support throughout his tenure.
“Together, we recorded commendable achievements in revenue generation, enforcement, and service delivery,” Ojeifo said.
The outgoing Controller described DC Ogundeyi as a seasoned and capable officer, expressing confidence in his leadership capacity, experience, and professionalism. He urged officers and men of the Command to accord the new Acting Controller maximum support, loyalty, and cooperation to ensure continued success.
“I remain grateful to the Comptroller General of Customs for the opportunity to serve, and I wish Kwara Command continued peace, progress, and operational excellence,” he added.
In his acceptance remarks, the Acting Area Controller, DC Najeem Akanmu Ogundeyi, thanked the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, FNIPR, PhD, and the management of the Service for the confidence reposed in him.
He also commended Comptroller Ojeifo for what he described as exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to duty, noting that his tenure has laid a solid foundation for sustained growth and efficiency within the Command.
“As I assume this office, I am fully aware of the responsibilities and challenges it entails. I do not take this assignment lightly, and I am committed to upholding the standards, values, and excellence of the Service,” Ogundeyi stated.
He emphasized teamwork, professionalism, transparency, and discipline as the guiding principles of his leadership, assuring that officers and personnel would be motivated to give their best in the collective interest of the Command.
Calling for continued cooperation from officers and stakeholders, the Acting Controller pledged to consolidate existing achievements, confront emerging challenges, and advance the overall progress of the Kwara Area Command.
The transition marks another step in the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to effective leadership, operational efficiency, and improved service delivery across its Commands.
