The Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) and Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘B’, Nsikan Patrick Umoh, has commended the leadership and personnel of the Kwara Area Command for their exemplary conduct, discipline, and commitment to duty.
ACG Umoh gave the commendation on Monday, 10 August 2026, during an official oversight visit to the Command Headquarters in Ilorin, Kwara State, as part of her ongoing tour of operational commands within Zone ‘B’.
Addressing officers and men of the Command, the Zonal Coordinator disclosed that since assuming office, her headquarters had not received any adverse report against the Kwara Area Command. She described the clean operational record as a reflection of the high level of professionalism, discipline, and integrity demonstrated by personnel in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Delivering the goodwill message of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, ACG Umoh urged officers to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and responsible conduct, both on and off duty.
She particularly cautioned personnel against involvement in illicit drugs, sharp practices, and other activities capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Customs Service. She urged officers to remain committed to the core values of the Service and to uphold the trust reposed in them by the government and the public.
The Zonal Coordinator further encouraged officers to promote unity, teamwork, and mutual support, stressing the importance of working together as one family toward the achievement of the Service’s objectives. She also assured personnel of the continued support of the Zonal and Service Headquarters.
Earlier, the Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Najeem Akanmu Ogundeyi, welcomed the Zonal Coordinator and her entourage. In his address, he highlighted the Command’s major achievements, operational milestones, and administrative successes recorded under his leadership.
As part of the oversight visit, ACG Umoh also held an interactive engagement with key stakeholders in the trading community. Participants included representatives of freight forwarding associations, the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), and major excise factories, including ITC and SANICA.
During the engagement, the Zonal Coordinator commended the cordial relationship and strong synergy between the Command and the business community. She also addressed concerns raised by stakeholders regarding cargo clearance procedures, examination timelines, and the competitiveness of regional trade, providing clarifications and practical responses to the issues presented.
The stakeholders expressed appreciation for the engagement, describing it as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and improve the ease and efficiency of legitimate trade within the Command’s area of responsibility.
The visit concluded with an inspection of the Command’s facilities, including its administrative offices, warehouse, and residential barracks. ACG Umoh expressed satisfaction with the level of orderliness, environmental cleanliness, and discipline observed across the facilities.
She urged the Command to sustain the standards recorded and continue to uphold the reputation of the Nigeria Customs Service through professionalism, integrity, and effective service delivery.
