The University of Ilorin has recorded a remarkable academic milestone as 16 of its Law graduates earned First Class Honours in the recently concluded Bar Final Examinations conducted by the Nigerian Law School.
In addition, 58 other graduates of the institution secured Second Class Upper division, further underscoring the University’s strong performance.
This development was disclosed in a press statement issued by the University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, and made available to journalists in Ilorin.
According to Akogun, the achievement marks a historic first for both the University and its Faculty of Law. He noted that the closest record was in 2023, when 10 graduates attained First Class honours in the Bar Finals.
Akogun attributed the success to the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, describing it as a reflection of his administration’s commitment to improved service delivery and academic excellence.
Reacting to the development, Prof. Egbewole expressed delight at the performance, describing it as a source of pride not only for the Faculty of Law but for the entire University community.
He stated that the achievement reflects the dedication, discipline, and resilience of the graduates, as well as the institution’s strong academic foundation and culture of excellence.
The Vice-Chancellor, who is also a member of the Body of Benchers, commended the First Class graduates for their outstanding performance and praised other students who successfully completed the programme with commendable grades.
Describing the feat as a “proud moment” for the University, Prof. Egbewole reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic and professional excellence. He also urged the graduates to continue to be worthy ambassadors of the University in their future endeavours.
