Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi |
The Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi has presented cheques of undisclosed amounts of money to families of slain officers ambushed and killed by bandits in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State.
He also offered one slot of job opportunity to each of the family of seven slain personnel, saying that the offers were given approval by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Addressing officers and men, as well as bereaved families at the NSCDC Kaduna Command Headquarters, Audi lamented that the Corps had in the past lost officers in the line of duties, but not as much when compared to the Kaduna incident.
He described the killing as colossal, but charged other personnel not to be deterred by the ugly incident.
The NSCDC boss said they should continue to put in their best for a more secured country.
“Death is inevitable, it is heart touching losing the personnel.
“Although, this is not the first time we are losing personnel, but it’s so painful that we lost seven personnel at a time.
“It is a great loss, that is why I am here personally, to encourage all of you, to continue to do your best and not give up,” he said.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Service, Olusola Odumosu, hinted that he had initiated the process of payment of death benefits and other entitlements to the affected officers through the office of the Minister.
He explained that the Corps had been settling burial benefits, entitlements, accident and group life Insurance policies to personnel as and when due.
