The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the appointment of Commandant Abbas Nda Mohammed as its 16th substantive State Commandant.
He assumed duty on Monday, April 13, 2026, following the redeployment of his predecessor, Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, to the Corps’ National Headquarters.
In a today's statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Michael Shola, the new Commandant was described as a seasoned security professional with over two decades of experience in the NSCDC.
Mohammed has held several strategic positions, including at Zone 4 Headquarters in Minna, Head of Operations in Kwara State, and Head of the Anti-Vandal Unit in Niger State, among other leadership roles across the country.
Speaking after taking over, Mohammed reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property, safeguarding critical national assets, and enhancing intelligence-driven operations across Kwara State.
He warned criminal elements, vandals, and economic saboteurs to stay away from the state, stressing that the Command would adopt proactive and decisive strategies to tackle all forms of criminality.
“Kwara State will not be a safe haven for criminals. We are fully prepared to deploy all necessary operational strategies to ensure the safety and security of lives and property,” he said.
The Commandant also pledged to strengthen collaboration with other security agencies, traditional institutions, and key stakeholders to sustain peace and security in the state.
He further urged residents to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
