Normalcy has returned to Isanlu-Isin in Kwara State following a peaceful protest by youths on Saturday, September 13, 2025, the State Police Command has confirmed.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the demonstration, which began around 10:00 a.m., saw youths temporarily barricading the Omu-Aran/Ilorin Road at the Eleyin axis to express concerns over recent security issues in the area.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, in collaboration with the Brigade Commander of the 22 Armored Brigade, Brigadier General E.B. Barkins, and the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), swiftly moved to the scene to manage the situation.
They were joined by the Executive Chairmen of Irepodun and Isin Local Government Areas, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu Tinuola and Hon. Benjamin Jolayemi, as well as respected community leaders who engaged directly with the protesting youths.
SP Ejire-Adeyemi noted that the Command deployed both tactical and conventional assets to maintain law and order, while ensuring that criminal elements did not hijack the demonstration.
“Strategic crowd-control measures were applied with utmost professionalism to guarantee the safety of all parties involved and to secure free vehicular movement along the affected route,” she said.
The statement commended the cooperation of community leaders and youths, whose constructive engagements helped to swiftly restore peace.
Residents were further urged to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
“The security architecture in the area has been reinforced to forestall any breach of peace,” SP Ejire-Adeyemi assured, adding that the safety and freedom of movement of all residents remain guaranteed.
