The Albinism Association of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter has charged government agencies, ministries, and philanthropists to provide critical support for persons with albinism.
The Association gave the charged in a press statement issued today, the 4th of February 2025 by its Chairman, Abdulsalam Kehinde Hussein and made available to FACTUAL NAIJA NEWS.
In light of World Cancer Day, the association, in the statement, highlighted the increased risk of skin cancer among persons with albinism due to their vulnerability to harmful sun rays.
The group called on the Ministry of Health to offer free monthly medical examinations and treatments, and appealed to philanthropists for donations of essential protective items such as sunscreen, umbrellas, brimmed hats, and sunglasses.
The association acknowledged the Kwara State Government's efforts in supporting persons with disabilities and requested further targeted interventions to safeguard the health of persons with albinism in the state.
