The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has clarified that there is no rift between him and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, warning purveyors of fake news and mischief makers against spreading false information.
The clarification came on the heel of rumour mill that Governor AbdulRazaq and the legislator had scores to settle over the construction project the latter facilitated in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state.
It would be recalled that the Senator, who is also the Turaki of Ilorin, had facilitated the construction of Gaa Aremu/Isale Jagun/Kuntu Road in Ilorin West Local Government Area of the State, but the state Ministry of Works and Transport stopped the workers from executing the project.
This fueled insinuation of a misunderstanding between the governor and the senator.
However, in a statement he personally released to Journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday, dated 21 of November, 2023, Mustapha said he has a cordial relationship with the Governor as the issue is now being addressed with the state ministry of works and transport.
The legislator described the governor as his elder brother and the leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state, saying that AbdulRazaq has performed well in the state, and he is committed to supporting the governor to further develop the state, especially the Kwara Central Senatorial District that he is representing in the National Assembly.
Mustapha said, "I have followed the conversations that ensued over the constituency project that I facilitated from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
"I wish to state that the information gap and whatever missteps on the said project are being addressed with the Kwara State Ministry of Works and Transport. As a leader, I take responsibility for the misunderstanding.
"To that extent, I totally reject the insinuations that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq stopped the constituency project or that any bad blood exists between myself and the Governor, who is my elder brother and the esteemed leader of our party.
"The Governor has done very well within the resources available for our dear state, and I am committed to supporting him to further develop our state, especially the Kwara Central Senatorial District that I represent in the Senate.
"I urge leaders, members and supporters of our party to take immediate note of this, and should not get hoodwinked through the mischief of the merchants of crisis. Kwara APC is one large indivisible family ably led by the Governor", he said.
