The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has deployed 2,280 personnel across the state to ensure a peaceful Easter celebration.
The State Commandant, Bala Bawa Bodinga, announced the deployment on Thursday, noting that officers have been stationed across all 16 local government areas to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the festive period.
According to him, security presence will be heightened in key locations including churches, recreational centres, motor parks, and shopping complexes to deter criminal activities and safeguard lives and property.
Bodinga explained that surveillance and patrol operations have been intensified across both urban and rural communities, with tactical units and rapid response teams placed on standby to respond swiftly to emergencies.
He also directed officers to remain vigilant and take firm action against individuals attempting to vandalise national assets or government infrastructure.
The commandant warned that anyone planning to disrupt public peace during the Easter celebrations would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
He further extended Easter greetings to Christians, urging residents of Kwara State to embrace the values of love, sacrifice, and peaceful coexistence, while cooperating with security agencies to ensure a safe and hitch-free celebration.
