The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned members against misinterpreting a recent public statement credited to Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu, describing it as a personal opinion that does not reflect the position of the party leadership.
In a statement issued on Friday, the State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abdulwaheed Olawale Babatunde, emphasized that while individuals are entitled to their views, party affairs are guided by established protocols and due process.
According to the party, Onilu’s remarks appear to be driven by personal political interests rather than the collective aspirations of the APC, urging members to exercise caution, particularly in light of past actions that may raise concerns about the objectivity of such interventions.
The statement reaffirmed that the process of selecting candidates for the forthcoming elections remains open and will be determined through widely accepted democratic mechanisms, including consensus or primaries, in line with party guidelines and consultations with stakeholders.
The party further warned members in Kwara State, irrespective of their status or affiliations, to refrain from actions capable of influencing or disrupting the party’s internal processes.
“At this crucial time, unity, vigilance, and discipline are paramount,” the statement read, urging members to avoid divisive narratives that could undermine cohesion within the party.
The APC reiterated its commitment to fairness, inclusivity, and democratic principles, calling on members to remain focused and united in pursuit of the party’s objectives and service to the people.
