The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Egbewole (SAN) has reaffirmed the institution's commitment to maintaining a cult-free campus.
Speaking at the University's Iftar/Media Interactive session, Egbewole emphasised that the university has a zero-tolerance policy towards cultism and has successfully eradicated cult activities over the years.
The Vice-Chancellor attributed the university's success in combating cultism to its robust security architecture, responsive student body, and effective student affairs unit.
He noted that the university has maintained a cult-free campus for over two decades and intends to keep it that way.
“We have a robust security architecture, a responsive and responsible student body, and an effective student affairs unit that ensures our campus remains safe and free of cult activities,” he said.
The university don also outlined the university's plans for its 50th-anniversary celebrations, which had featured a press conference in January, noting that there will be a grand anniversary event from November 23 to 28, 2025.
Egbewole added that the university is committed to excellence, inclusivity, and security and will continue to prioritize the well-being and safety of its students and staff.
He also weighed in on the constitutional crisis in Rivers State, advocating for constitutional amendments to prevent similar crises in the future.
In addition to addressing the constitutional crisis, the VC highlighted UNILORIN's commitment to internationalization, noting that the university has signed over 100 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with global institutions, prioritizing international partnerships.
