The Senator representing Kwara Central in the National Assembly, Mallam Saliu Mustapha has sympathised with victims of the fire incident that occurred at Megida Onikanhun Compound, Edun market, Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State where several properties, including a mosque were raised down.
Mustapha, who paid a condolence visit to the scene of the incident on Tuesday described the incident as shocking and devastating. He therefore condoled with the family and residents of the area and prayed against the recurrence of such incidents.
Mustapha was represented by a high powered delegation led by the Deputy Director General of his constituency office in Ilorin South, Hon. Abdulkareem Tunde Popoola.
The senator said though properties were lost to the unfortunate incident, but the victims should take solace in the fact that lives were saved, just as he admonished residents to always alert the fire fighters on time and stay away from anything that could ignite fire during this harmattan season.
"The distinguished received the news of the inferno a while ago and he was devastated by it. He's away abroad but raised this delegation to solidarise with the family and assess the situation," Popoola said.
He said the turaki was aware of the earlier visit of the Kwara state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazak and pledged to support the Governor's intervention in
liaison with the member representing the Ilorin East and South federal constituency, Hon. Yinka Aluko, PhD.
Mustapha commended the firemen of the Kwara State firefighters for containing the fire and preserving other buildings from being gutted by fire.
