The newly deployed Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, Abbas Nda Mohammed, has pledged to adopt a more aggressive and intelligence-driven approach to tackling insecurity and protecting lives and critical infrastructure across the state.
Speaking during a media briefing with journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Mohammed said his leadership would focus on proactive strategies and enhanced community engagement to strengthen the state’s security framework.
He emphasized that criminal activities would not be tolerated under his watch, directing heads of tactical units to intensify round-the-clock surveillance and patrols in strategic and vulnerable areas to improve response capabilities and deter crime.
The commandant also issued a warning to criminal elements, stating that Kwara State would not serve as a safe haven for unlawful activities. He assured that the command is prepared to deploy all legal means to detect, prevent, and prosecute offenders.
Highlighting the importance of collaboration, Mohammed said the command would strengthen partnerships with other security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders to address evolving security challenges.
He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to professionalism, discipline, and effective service delivery, while urging residents of Kwara State to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and credible information.
