The Kwara State Government has announced the reopening of schools across the state beginning Monday, February 2, 2026, following sustained security operations aimed at restoring safety.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that school authorities have been formally informed of the decision.
According to the commissioner, the reopening comes amid ongoing security efforts to neutralise threats to public safety, including those affecting educational institutions.
“The government deems the situation now to be a lot better than it was before. Even so, we continue to maintain vigilance,” the statement, signed by Peter Amogbonjaye, Press Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Developmen, said.
Security agencies, the government added, are maintaining steady operations to consolidate recent gains, while complementary efforts are underway to strengthen community resilience alongside kinetic interventions.
The state government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of students, teachers, and school infrastructure as academic activities resume.
