Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq expresses sadness over the death of Professor Yusuf Lanre Badmus, describing the late scholar as a renowned Muslim intellectual and community leader whose contributions will be greatly missed.
In a today's condolence message by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor commiserated with the Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari; Kwara State Muslim stakeholders; the Markaz family; and the immediate family of the deceased.
AbdulRazaq said Prof Badmus left behind a strong legacy as a peace advocate and distinguished scholar who impacted positively on Kwara State and Ilorin Emirate in particular.
“The governor notes that Prof Badmus was a respected voice in religious scholarship and community development, whose life of service remains a reference point for younger generations,” the statement read.
He prayed Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late academic, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, and comfort members of his family and associates.
Professor Badmus, a former Dean of the Postgraduate School at the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), was also known for his contributions to Islamic jurisprudence and public discourse on national development.
