The Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced another landmark achievement for the state as Team Kwara emerged overall winner of the 2025 Presidential School Debate Championship in the Junior Secondary School category, securing the state’s fourth consecutive national title.
In a further boost to the state’s academic profile, Team Kwara also clinched victory at the 2025 Asia Parliamentary Debate Championship held in Malaysia in December 2025, earning international recognition for its debating excellence.
Kwara SUBEB, in a statement personally issued and signed today by its Chairman, Prof. Sheu Raheem Adaramaja, described the twin victories as a testament to Kwara State’s growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence, intellectual development and youth leadership.
The Board attributed the sustained success to the consistent investment and education-focused reforms of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who is also Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.
According to Adaramaja, the Governor’s prioritisation of basic education has translated into strengthened teacher capacity, improved learning infrastructure and the introduction of programmes that promote critical thinking, effective communication and academic competitiveness among learners.
He expressed profound appreciation to Governor AbdulRazaq for creating an enabling environment that allows students to excel at both national and international levels. The Board also commended the dedication of teachers, debate coaches, school administrators and parents whose combined efforts contributed to the historic victories.
The achievements, SUBEB noted, further reaffirm Kwara State’s position as a benchmark for educational development in Nigeria and beyond.
