Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has hailed workers across various sectors for their resilience, dedication, and critical contributions to the state's development, as Nigeria joins the global community to mark the 2025 International Workers’ Day.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq praised the role of workers in powering the economy and shaping the future of the society, describing them as “the pillars of our growth and development.”
“For us in Kwara State, we appreciate the immense contributions of our workers — whether as civil servants, farmers, factory workers, teachers, healthcare personnel, engineers, artisans, and professionals across all sectors,” the governor said. “Their dedication, resilience, and skills are the pillars of our growth and development.”
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving worker welfare and fostering inclusive prosperity. “We are determined to implement policies that strengthen our civil service, grow the economy, attract investments, and expand job opportunities,” he said.
Highlighting some of his administration’s achievements, AbdulRazaq noted that “through targeted infrastructural and socioeconomic initiatives, our administration has maintained financial stability, ensured timely salary payments, supported entrepreneurship, and provided social safety nets.”
Looking ahead, he emphasized the importance of preparing for future challenges, particularly as the world of work evolves due to advances in technology, automation, and artificial intelligence.
“That thinking is at the heart of our numerous initiatives: Innovation Hub, Visual Arts Centre, ICT centres, among others,” he said. “It is crucial that we embrace change, promote excellence, and prepare ourselves not just for the jobs of today but for the opportunities of tomorrow.”
Governor AbdulRazaq also expressed gratitude to labour leaders in the state, commending them for their continued partnership and support.
“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to all workers for the vital role they’ve played in our shared achievements,” he said. “I also commend our Labour leaders for their support and partnership.”
He concluded by wishing all workers a fulfilling and inspiring Workers’ Day celebration.
