The University of Ilorin has appointed Professors Taibat Odunola-Bakare and Mukhtar Adeiza Etudaiye as new Deputy Vice-Chancellors, succeeding Professors Olubunmi Omotesho and Sulaiman Ambali, whose tenures ended in December 2024.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the appointments were made by the University Senate and are pending approval by the Governing Council, led by Surv. Abiodun Aluko.
Odunola-Bakare, a Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and former Dean of the Postgraduate School, will serve as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), while Etudaiye, a Professor of Law and Chairman of the Admissions Committee, will assume the role of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Technology, and Innovation).
The statement also announced that the current Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Technology, and Innovation), Prof. Adegboyega Adisa Fawole, will transition to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Wahab Egbewole commending the outgoing Deputy Vice-Chancellors for their service and dedication.
