Troops of the 3 Division Nigerian Army and Operation Safe Haven have rescued 18 kidnapped victims, including three elderly individuals, during a joint offensive operation along the Taraba-Plateau border.
The operation, which targeted a kidnappers’ hideout, successfully freed the captives and led to the arrest of several criminals.
According to Major Samson Zhakom, the Information Officer for Operation Safe Haven, the rescued individuals were profiled and documented by relevant agencies before being reunited with their families.
During the operation, troops recovered dangerous weapons, including firearms, ammunition, and other items used by the kidnappers.
In a related development, troops of Sector Five on Golden Peace Operations captured five bandits at a criminal hideout in Tarangol, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Items recovered from the bandits include fabricated rifles, rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, cartridges, and daggers.
Similarly, troops intercepted bandits at Jannaret in Mangu Local Government Area while attempting to perpetrate attacks in the area.
The apprehended suspects are in custody and will be handed over to appropriate authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
These operations underscore the ongoing commitment of the Nigerian Army and security agencies to restore peace and security in the region.
