The Kwara State Police Command has announced a restriction on all vehicular movement from midnight until 6 PM tomorrow to ensure security and the smooth conduct of the state’s Local Government elections.
A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, today said that exemptions will be granted to those providing essential services, accredited electoral officials, authorized media personnel, electoral observers, and emergency responders.
The statement also noted that Armed Security Personnel on VIP protection or escort duties are prohibited from accompanying their VIPs to polling stations.
The statement urged residents of the state to comply with the directive, with a warning that anyone found violating the curfew will face legal consequences.

Kwara State Police Command.Immediate Press Release.19th September, 2024.The Editors,KWARA L.G ELECTIONS: CP KWARA IMPLEMENTS SECURITY MEASURES, RESTRICTIONS ON MOVEMENT.as CP Kwara urges all residents to comply with this directive.The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the public that there will be restriction of all vehicular movement. This will be imposed from 12:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, 21st September 2024, in relation to the upcoming Local Government Elections. This measure has been put in place to ensure the security and smooth conduct of the electoral process.However, exceptions will be given to persons rendering essential services, accredited electoral officials, authorized media personnel, electoral observers and emergency responders.
