The Kwara State Police Command has launched an investigation into the discovery of a female corpse near the Aleniboro area in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The body, identified as Miss Awesu Mojisola, a 21-year-old student of Kwara State College of Health Technology, was found on a refuse dump on August 11, 2024.
According to a press release on Tuesday, 20th of August, 2024 by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the deceased was reported missing by her roommate, Miss Blessing O, on August 13, 2024.
Mojisola had allegedly been invited to a party by a student of Summit University, Mr. Adebayo Happiness, who promised her a fee of N15,000 after acting as his girlfriend.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Mojisola arrived in Ilorin on August 9, 2024, but felt uncomfortable at the hotel where she was lodged.
Her phone was later switched off, and all efforts to reach her were unsuccessful.
The Police have arrested suspects in connection with the case and transferred it to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya, assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to uncover the truth and bring those responsible to justice.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of young women in the state, and the Police have urged anyone with information to come forward.
The investigation is ongoing.

KWARA STATE POLICE COMMANDPRESS RELEASEINVESTIGATION INTO DISCOVERY OF FEMALE CORPSE NEAR ALENIBORO AREA IN ILORIN, KWARA STATE.August 14, 2024The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the public about an ongoing investigation into a case of culpable homicide reported on August 12, 2024, at about 0730 hours by Mr. Olorunoje of Aleniboro area ilorin, Kwara State.According to Mr. Olorunoje, on August 11, 2024, at about 2000 hours, he was returning home from the mosque when a group of laborers approached him and informed him of a disturbing discovery. They had found the body of an unidentified female, approximately 25 years old, dumped on refuse dump near Aleniboro area ilorin, Kwara State.Following this report, a team of detectives was immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the scene was carefully examined and photographed. During the initial investigation, traces of blood were found near the left ear of the deceased. The body was subsequently taken to the General Hospital in Ilorin, where a medical examination confirmed that she was dead. The body has since been deposited in the hospital morgue.The deceased was later identified as Miss Awesu Mojisola.In a related development, on August 13, 2024, at about 1630 hours, report of a missing person was filed by Miss Blessing O, a resident of Gbomi’s area, Offa, Kwara State. Miss Blessing reported that her roommate, Miss Awesu Mojisola, a 21-year-old student of Kwara State College of Health Technology, had been missing since August 9, 2024.According to the report, Miss Mojisola received a phone call on August 9 from one Miss Timileyin, who informed her about an event organized by students of Summit University and Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin. Miss Timileyin introduced Mojisola to one Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a student of Summit University, who allegedly invited her to the night party under the pretense of having her act as his girlfriend for a fee of Fifteen Thousand Naira (#15,000.00).Upon her arrival in ilorin, Miss Mojisola informed her roommate that she felt uncomfortable in the hotel she was lodged by Adebayo Happiness and noted that there was no party at the said location. Shortly after this communication, her phone was switched off and all subsequent efforts by Miss Blessing to reach her were unsuccessful.In light of these developments, the Kwara State Police Command have arrested suspects in connection with the case.
