The swift response of the men of the Kwara State Fire Service has saved a house at No. 21 Oluwatoyin Street, in Olorunsogo area of Ilorin, Kwara state from fire outbreak.
The spokesperson of the State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, made this known in a statement made available to FACTUAL NAIJA NEWS on Sunday.
The statement explained, "On Sunday 7th July, 2024 at about 00:18 hours the Kwara State Fire Service swiftly responded to a distress call reporting a fire outbreak at No. 21 Oluwatoyin Street, Olorunsogo, Ilorin, Kwara State.
"A fire appliance, along with its crew, promptly departed the station for the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a six-room building with two rooms ablaze.
Acting quickly, the gallant firefighters utilized their expertise and firefighting skills to contain and extinguish the fire, preventing further destruction."
The statement added that subsequent investigation determined that the fire was caused by a power surge.
To this end, Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, emphasised the importance of public safety awareness at all times.
