Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has expressed sadness reports of the death of the former Deputy Governor of the state, His Excellency Elder Peter Kisira in the early hours of Saturday, March 30, 2024.
The former Deputy Governor died at the age of 74, according to family accounts.
This was contained in a statement issued by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Rafiu Ajakaye and made available to newsmen in Ilorin, Kwara State over the weekend.
“On behalf of the people and government of the state, Governor AbdulRazaq sends his heartfelt condolences to the people of Baruten and the family of Elder Kisira, whom he urges to take solace in his fine legacies as a public servant and a bureaucrat who rose to the rank of Permanent Secretary in the state’s civil service.
The Governor said the former Deputy Governor will be remembered for his life of commendable public service and dedication to good causes.
He prays to God to receive his soul and look after the family that inherits him”.
In the same vein, the Speaker Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Engr Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has described the death of a former Deputy Governor of the state: Elder Peter Kisira as a great loss.
Rt. Hon. Engr. Danladi-Salihu in a condolence message issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary Sheu Abdulkadir Yusuf, described the late former Deputy Governor as a perfect gentleman who distinguished himself first as a civil servant and later as the number two citizen in the state.
“I am deeply sad to hear about the passing of our former Deputy Governor; His Excellency Elder Peter Kisira, my heartfelt condolences go out to the Kisira family, the Baruten community, the government, and the people of Kwara State during this difficult time, may his soul rest in peace”, the Speaker said.
Similarly, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, has commiserated with the State Government over the death of former Deputy Governor, Mr. Peter Kisira.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, in a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, described late Peter Kisira as a gentleman and administrator par excellence who served the State meritoriously in various capacities.
The Emir, on behalf of the entire members of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, commiserated with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, people of Baruten local government area, government and people of Kwara State over the unfortunate incidence.
Alhaji Sulu-Gambari therefore condoled the widow, children, immediate and extended families of the late Deputy Governor, praying God to comfort them and repose the soul of the deceased.
FACTUAL NAIJA NEWS reports the late Elder Peter Kisira, aged 74, was born in Ilesha-Baruba in the Baruten Local Government area and served as the Deputy Governor of the state under the administration of Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed between 2011 and 2019.
