A fire outbreak on Sunday evening at Grace International School, in Tanke, Ilorin, Kwara State, destroyed property worth millions of naira.
FACTUAL NAIJA NEWS gathered that the incident which occurred at about 6:06 pm of Sunday, destroyed nine out of the 14 classrooms of the school leaving them in ruins.
Grace International School, is located on Awolowo Street beside Kobiowu Mosque in Tanke area, in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The spokesman of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, in a statement in Ilorin on Monday, said firefighters on arrival, met a block of classrooms engulfed in flames.
According to him, the firefighters promptly swung into action to combat the blaze.
“Tragically, the fire had already ravaged nine out of the fourteen classrooms, leaving a significant portion of the school in ruins.
”Through meticulous investigation, it was determined that the fire originated from an undergrowth that had been deliberately set ablaze by an unidentified individual. The flames then rapidly spread to the school building, causing extensive damage, ” he said.
He quoted the The Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, to have advised Kwarans to prioritize safety, while urging the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities.
