The Kwara state House of Assembly, on Tuesday, passed into Law, a Bill for the amendment of the Kwara state Local Government Electoral Law.
The passage of the Bill at a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu, was done following consideration of a report presented by House Committee on Eithics, Privileges & Judiciary and Committee on Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs, after it was laid on the table by the Chairman of the House Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Judiciary Hon. Salahu Folabi Ganiyu (Omupo).
According to a statement by the House of Assembly, “The Report of the Joint House Committee on Eithics, Privileges & Judiciary and Committee on Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs on a Bill to Amend the Kwara State Local Government Electoral Law was presented and laid on the Table of the House by the Chairman of the House Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Judiciary Hon. Salahu Folabi Ganiyu (Omupo)
“Thereafter, the Honourable House Considered the Report at the Committee of Whole.
“After the Consideration of the report of the Joint Committee on Eithics, Privileges & Judiciary and Committee on Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs at the Committee of Whole, the Clerk to the House was directed to read the Bill the Third Time, and thereafter passed through Third Reading and Final Passage”, the report added.
The Clerk to the House was thereafter directed to produce a clean copy of the Bill for the Governor’s assent, before a motion for adjournment was moved by Hon. Oba Abdulkadir Magaji (Ilorin Central), the House Leader, seconded by Hon. Mohammed Baba Salihu (Okuta/Yashikira).
