Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the
Department of State Services, DSS), on Friday, in Kaduna, warned of the
likelihood of politicians using thugs during the election.
The DSS Director in Kaduna, Mr Abdul
Enachie, stated this in his presentation of a report of security situation for
2nd and 3rd quarters in the state.
Enachie advised the Kaduna State government to take the report seriously and provide adequate solutions before the 2023 elections.
He pleaded with residents in the state to
provide useful information to security agents that could lead to the arrest of
informants who are helping bandits or terrorists in carrying out nefarious
activities in the state.
According to him, informants are embedded
among residents.
While he urged the military to sustains their
operations against terrorists in areas like Birnin Gwari and other flashpoints,
the DSS director also pleaded with the Federal Government to complete the
Kaduna-Abuja and Birnin Gwari highways, as it would assist the security
situation on the road.
Responding, the Kaduna State Governor,
Nasir el-Rufai, advised security agencies to ensure that all political actors
working with thugs are profiled and prosecuted before the general elections.
