In commemoration of the 2022 International Day of the girl child, the State Director, National Orientation Agency, Mr Olusegun Adeyemi has reiterated the need to empower females with education.
He stated this
on Tuesday while speaking to journalists in his office in line with the United Nations’
Day of the girl child with the theme "Our Time Is Now – Our Rights, Our
Future".
Adeyemi stated
that the United Nations (UN) created the holiday to celebrate the potential of
girls in different cultures around the world, and to highlight the
threats, discrimination and issues facing their well-being

Director called for an end to child marriage while stressing that education is
a strategic background for protecting girls against this harmful practice and
defending their rights.
In his words
"Girls worldwide deserve better education, access to resources, health
services and a better future. Therefore, today gives us another chance to
reiterate the call for the protection girl's rights.
The NOA helmsman
therefore reminded all to do their best in eradicating child marriage which
denies a girl her childhood, disrupts her education, limits her opportunities,
increases her risk of being a victim of abuse, and jeopardizes her health.
