Four persons escaped death in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Tuesday night after a container fell on the car they were travelling in.
The Head of Media, State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, disclosed in Ilorin on Wednesday that the container, loaded on a trailer, suddenly fell off and landed on the passing car.
FACTUAL NAIJA NEWS learnt that the incident occurred at about 7:30pm on the Offa motor park roundabout, opposite Bovas fuel station of the state capital.
A joint team of the Kwara State Fire Service, KWATMA, Federal Road Safety Commission and the Nigeria Police Force rescued the four victims of the accident alive.
Spokesman of the Fire Service said, “the accident involved a trailer in motion conveying loaded container, suddenly the container fell off from the trailer and landed on a passing car.
"In this car, four people were trapped but were rescued alive by the available team.”
Adekunle said Rasaq Jidda, Chairman Special Taskforce to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, was the one who summoned the Brigade on the incident.
Reports, however, alleged that the accident was caused because custom officers pursued the trailer.
The Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa, urged everyone to be more vigilant especially while driving on the roads.
