Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a
three-year-old girl in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The girl was kidnapped from her home around 8:00pm on
Wednesday, shortly after arriving from a church programme with her mother.
Narrating the incident, the disturbed mother, Taiwo
Fashina, said the kidnappers who were two in number and armed with a gun had
trailed her home at the residence located around Second Gate axis of the Army
Barracks, along Ondo road, Akure.
She said the gunmen arrived in an unregistered
Mercedes car after she had opened her gate.
According to Fashina, the gunmen threatened to shoot
her if she refused to hand over her car key, an order which she immediately
complied with.
“They asked me to lie on the ground so I could not
look up, but faintly I saw one of them carrying something, but I just thought
they were carrying a bag and I didn’t know whether it was my baby girl they
carried.
“They used masks to cover their noses and mouths and
asked me not to shout. They didn’t go in the car, they only went with the car
key.
“I was calling Mary, where are you? I then noticed
that I didn’t see the girl that was when I started shouting and people came
around.
Meanwhile, efforts to speak with the Police Public
Relations Officer in the state, Funmilayo Odunlami was unsuccessful as she did
not pick her calls as at the time of filing in this report.
