Honourable Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Ekiti/Isin/Irepodun/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency, securing the party’s ticket ahead of the next general election.
The keenly contested primary, which drew widespread attention across the constituency, saw Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel record impressive victories across several wards, establishing clear dominance throughout the exercise.
Results collated from the 42 wards across Ekiti, Isin, Irepodun and Oke-Ero local government areas showed overwhelming support for the APC chieftain, whose growing popularity and grassroots connection played a significant role in his emergence.
His closest contender is Dr Toba Oloyede while the incumbent member representing the constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Raheem Ajulopin, struggled to gain momentum during the exercise as Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel maintained a consistent lead from the early stages of collation to the final outcome.
Party stakeholders, supporters and political observers described the outcome as a reflection of the confidence reposed in Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel’s leadership capacity, accessibility and long-standing relationship with party members across the constituency.
Following the declaration of results, jubilant supporters trooped out in celebration across different parts of the constituency, hailing the outcome as a new chapter for the APC in the federal constituency.
In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel appreciated party leaders, delegates and supporters for the trust and confidence reposed in him, assuring them of inclusive leadership, effective representation and continued commitment to the progress of the constituency.
He also extended a hand of fellowship to other aspirants and their supporters, urging all party members to remain united and work collectively for the success of the APC in the forthcoming general election.
The victory is widely seen as a major political development within the APC in Kwara State as preparations intensify ahead of the next electoral cycle.
