…Fagbemi describes him as “a gentleman of excellence”
Prince Lekan Adewoye on Wednesday formally submitted his letter of intent to contest the Kwara South Senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC), presenting it to the party’s state chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, at the APC secretariat.
Speaking at the event, Adewoye expressed appreciation to the party leadership for the opportunity, reaffirming his readiness to represent the district.
He said his decision to vie for the senatorial seat stems from a long-standing commitment to the APC since its formation in 2013.
Adewoye also highlighted the impact of the Lekan Adewoye Foundation across Kwara South, noting that it has sponsored the education of over 100 individuals, distributed more than 1,000 JAMB forms, and provided free healthcare services to over 1,000 beneficiaries.
He further pledged to align with national development goals, promising effective legislative representation and support for infrastructure development if elected.
“It is a privilege to aspire on this platform,” he said. “I seek the support and endorsement of the party, and I am confident that our party will emerge victorious.”
In his remarks, the APC state chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, commended Adewoye’s contributions, describing him as “a gentleman of excellence.”
Fagbemi recalled Adewoye’s support during a difficult period for the party, noting that his donation of a generator helped restore operations at the secretariat.
“His contributions have been consistent and impactful,” Fagbemi said. “He is well grounded in the party from the ward to the national level.”
He also referenced a large-scale empowerment programme organised by Adewoye, which he said demonstrated capacity and commitment to public service even before seeking elective office.
The chairman concluded by offering prayers for Adewoye’s success in his political aspirations.
The submission signals early political positioning ahead of the next election cycle, as activities gradually gather momentum across Kwara State.
