... Dismisses Sahara Reporters’ Claim
The Olopo Ewa of Ewa Land, Sheikh Murtala Yusuf Pakata, has expressed deep appreciation to Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his compassion and support to the family of the late Chief Imam, describing the governor’s gesture as sincere and worthy of divine reward.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Sheikh Pakata thanked the governor for his kindness and prayers, noting that such assistance should never be taken for granted.
“If someone offers assistance to an ingrate, it is like receiving an injection that no one knows about, yet it causes serious pain in the bone,” he said.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would reward Governor AbdulRazaq abundantly for his goodwill towards the family, describing the governor as a father figure whose actions reflect genuine concern.
Addressing a report allegedly published by Sahara Reporters, Sheikh Pakata dismissed the story as false and inconsequential, stressing that it did not originate from the family of the late Chief Imam.
According to him, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Jiddah had earlier briefed the family about the publication, which he said caused sadness but did not reflect the truth.
“I am telling you today that it was the late Chief Moshood Abiola who took our father, the late Sheikh Adam, to the best hospital in London for medical treatment. He was taken there alive, but his corpse was returned to Nigeria, and nobody said anything about it,” he explained.
He added that such occurrences are part of divine destiny and should not be politicised or sensationalised.
Sheikh Pakata further cited similar instances involving renowned Islamic scholars, including Sheikh Ibrahim Niyas, who was taken to the United Kingdom for medical care but later passed on, with his remains returned to Senegal.
“Allah has written when everyone will come into this world and when they will die,” he stated.
He urged Governor AbdulRazaq not to be disturbed by circulating rumours, emphasizing that members of the Chief Imam’s family only became aware of the alleged report recently and had no hand in it.
Concluding, Sheikh Pakata once again thanked the governor for his support and prayed for Allah’s blessings upon him.
“On behalf of the family and friends of the late Chief Imam, we say jazakumullahi khairan,” he said.
