The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has deployed 2,380 officers and men across the state to ensure a safe and peaceful Yuletide celebration.
The deployment, approved by the State Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G. Muhammed, is aimed at protecting critical national assets, public infrastructure and residents during the festive season.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Command’s spokesperson, ASC 1 Ayoola Michael Shola, who said the personnel have been strategically deployed across all 16 local government areas of Kwara State based on security assessments and operational needs.
According to the statement, the deployment draws from specialized and elite units of the corps, including the Armed Squad, Operational Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit, to ensure effective coverage and rapid response.
Dr. Muhammed noted that the NSCDC would work in close collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilante groups to maintain law and order and guarantee comprehensive security throughout the festive period.
While extending Christmas and New Year goodwill messages to residents of the state, the Commandant issued a stern warning to vandals and criminal elements, stressing that the corps is fully prepared to deal decisively with anyone attempting to disrupt public peace or sabotage critical infrastructure.
He also called on members of the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious, urging them to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies, emphasizing that community cooperation is essential for a peaceful and incident-free Yuletide season.
