The Kwara State Police Command has announced heightened security measures across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, assuring residents of a peaceful festive season.
In a statement issued on 11 December 2025, Police Public Relations Officer SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, has deployed additional personnel to strategic communities, critical infrastructure, markets, worship centres, motor parks and other public spaces.
She noted that joint surveillance and intelligence-sharing operations are ongoing to prevent security breaches.
The Command reiterated that the use, sale and distribution of fireworks, bangers and other explosive devices remain strictly prohibited, warning that offenders will be arrested and prosecuted.
The restriction on motorcycles and tricycles between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. also remains in force as part of efforts to curb night-time crime.
Residents were urged to remain calm and continue their lawful activities, with the Command assuring that it is committed to safeguarding lives and property throughout the festive period and beyond.
