The Kwara State Government has announced a temporary shutdown of the Kwara Garment Factory to facilitate pre-handover maintenance and inventory checks, following the completion of the outsourcing process for the factory’s management.
According to a statement issued by the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf Adelodun, the closure is part of the transition process as a new management team takes over operations at the facility.
The commissioner explained that the decision follows the conclusion of a transparent procurement process, which invited expressions of interest from qualified firms in line with public procurement regulations. A preferred bidder has now emerged as the new operator of the factory.
All civil servants previously seconded to the garment factory have been directed to return to their respective ministries, while trainees are advised to apply to the successful bidder for possible engagement.
To support the trainees during the transition period, the Ministry announced that all will receive a one-month training allowance.
