The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025 a public holiday in honour of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Monday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani.
In the statement, the minister extended congratulations to Nigerians both at home and abroad, calling on everyone to uphold the spirit of patriotism, unity, and resilience that has defined the nation since gaining independence in 1960.
He also urged citizens to keep faith with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which is focused on national rebirth, economic transformation, and collective prosperity.
The statement expressed confidence that, with the cooperation of all Nigerians, the country will continue moving toward greater peace, progress, and development.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
