This year's National Qur'an Recitation Competition has ended in Birnin-Kebbi - the Kebbi State capital with Kano State winning first position in the highest category of the Competition for Male Competitors while Gombe State won first position in the same category for Female Competitors.
The winner for Kano State - Bukhari Sanusi Idris will represent Nigeria in the next International Competition coming up in Saudi-Arabia next year while Rumaisa'u Dahir Ibrahim from Gombe State, would also represent the Nation where Female Competition will take place next year.
Meanwhile, Kwara State has won 3rd position among the Female Memorizers of 30 Hizbs with Jemeelah Opeyemi Tijani winning the prize for the State.
Also in the Female Category, Maryam Issa Onilu from Kwara State won 5th position among the Memorizers of 10 Hizbs of the Holy Qur'an.
The best result for Kwara State this year came from Abdul-Lateef Issa who came second among the Male Memorizers of the Holy Qur'an among memorizers of 10 Hizbs.
Other Competitors with outstanding performance include Zeenat Olawumi Hamzat from Oyo State who came 2nd among the female memorizers of complete Holy Qur'an.
Others are Fatima Bello Abdullahi from Cross River, Zainab Muhamnad Hussaini from Edo and Fatima Abubakar Sadiq from Akwa-Ibom States.
Speaking at the Closing Ceremony of the Competition in Birnin-Kebbi today, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs - Sultan Sa'ad Abubakar called on all muslims in Nigeria and all over the world to unite for the progress Islam across the globe. He expressed profound happiness for the physical presence of Sheikh Bala Lau - the Leader of Izalatul-Bidia Waiqamatul Sunnah and Sheikh Ibrahim Tahir Bauchi - the son of the Leader of Jamaatu Tijanniyah in Nigeria at the Event today - saying that Islam recognised muslims as one-single-body; adding that henceforth muslims should stop discriminating against themselves for them to sustain unity.
He commended the Governor of Kebbi State Dr. Nasir Idris for hosting the Competition on behalf of Kebbi State Government calling on other Muslim Governors in the Country to emulate him.
At the occasion, the 1st wife of the Kebbi State Governor was honoured by the Federal Ministry of Education for her great contribution to girl-child education in Nigeria while Kano and Gombe States winners of 1st positions were turbanned by the Governor of Kebbi State and his wife Hajia Nafisat Nasir Idris.
Next year's National Competition is scheduled for Maiduguri - Borno State in December 2025 all things being equal.
