A devastating fire outbreak occurred in the early hours of Monday at No. 158, Ile Alaparun Isale, Alore, Ilorin, Kwara State, claiming the life of a 41-year-old man.
According to a press statement issued by the Kwara State Fire Service, the incident occurred at about 2:07 am today, and a fire truck with its crew promptly responded to the distress call.
The statement signed on Monday (today) by PFO Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, Head, Media and Publicity for the Director, Kwara State Fire Service, explained that upon arrival, the firefighters worked diligently to contain and extinguish the blaze, saving 30 rooms out of 35.
It added, "Unfortunately, five rooms were affected, and the fire claimed the life of AbdulFatai, a 41-year-old man from Ile Alate, Abayawo".
Preliminary investigations, according to the statement, revealed that the fire was caused by spontaneous ignition in a room storing combustible materials.
Meanwhile, the Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and emphasized the importance of adhering to safety precautions to prevent fire hazards.
