Following the alleged assault on a serving female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member at Government Day Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, in the Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State last week, the NYSC management has withdrawn all corps members serving at the school.
FACTUAL NAIJA NEWS gathered that about 10 corps members serving in both the junior and senior arms of the school were reportedly withdrawn on Monday by the Kwara State Directorate of the NYSC.
The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, visited the school on Monday before proceeding to inspect members of the 2024 Batch C, Stream 2, at the ongoing orientation course in Yikpata community, Edu Local Government Area of the state.
During his visit, he ordered that all corps members serving in the school be withdrawn temporarily to ensure their safety.
Speaking on the development, the Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit of the NYSC in the state, Mr. Oladipo Morakinyo, confirmed on Tuesday the withdrawal of corps members serving in both the junior and senior secondary schools, Nigerian Tribune reports.
“Yes, it is true that all NYSC members serving in the school have been withdrawn temporarily, pending the outcome of the investigation by the panel set up by the government regarding the alleged assault on one of the corps members.
“Though the assaulted corps member serves in the junior school, we had to withdraw all corps members from the senior school as well to protect them from potential attacks,” Morakinyo said.
It was reported that the female corps member was allegedly assaulted by some female teachers who accused her of not greeting them properly last Thursday.
