The Ido-Osun Youth Forum has expressed its full support for Prince Abass Adeyemi Adeyeye to ascend the throne as the 47th Olojudo Alayemore of Ido-Osun Kingdom.
This endorsement was made public in a statement signed by the Forum's Secretary, Comrade Akano Kamorudeen Opeyemi, following a series of consultations and deliberations among youth leaders and key stakeholders in the town.
Prince Abass, currently serving as the Forum’s President, has garnered widespread admiration for his leadership, experience, and contributions to the growth and development of Ido-Osun, making him the favored candidate in the ongoing selection process.
This medium gathered that the youths’ support for Prince Abass is rooted in his long-standing dedication to community service and development. He played pivotal roles in projects like the Ido-Osun Airport Project and has consistently worked towards the progress of the town. In 2006, he served as Vice President of the Youth Forum, where his efforts in mobilizing youths and advancing the kingdom’s interests were notable. Since his election as Youth President over three and a half years ago, Prince Abass has remained actively engaged in the town’s affairs, further strengthening his connection with both the youth and the larger community.
The Ido-Osun Youth Forum’s endorsement of Prince Abass follows a rigorous process of consultation, including traditional, spiritual, and intellectual examinations of all the 17 candidates vying for the throne.
The Forum emphasized that this decision was not taken lightly, as the position of Olojudo Alayemore is a lifetime responsibility that will shape the future of the kingdom.
The youth leaders also highlighted the importance of adhering to the 1955 Ido-Osun Chieftaincy Declaration, which establishes a rotational system for kingship succession.
As a descendant of the Adeyeye Ojiloru Kandudu Royal Family from Oloye's Compound, Prince Abass is well-positioned to assume the role, being a direct member of one of the four legitimate branches of the Adenko Ruling House.
The Adenko Ruling House, to which Prince Abass belongs, has emphasized the importance of respecting the 1955 declaration, reiterating that there are only four royal family branches, not five as some claims suggest.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Dosu Babatunde, also urged the kingmakers to strictly follow traditional protocols in selecting the new Olojudo Alayemore, stressing the need for peace and fairness throughout the process.
Prince Abass, a Symptometrist, Environmentalist, and Entrepreneur, is also the CEO of Microclear Impact Optimum Co. Limited, Chairman of Ido-Osun Botanical Garden and Resort, and a board member of Osun State Traditional Complementary and Alternative Medicine Board.
In his response to the endorsement, Prince Abass expressed his deep gratitude to the youths of Ido-Osun, both at home and abroad, for their unwavering support.
He emphasized that while he has made significant contributions to the development of the kingdom, these achievements were made possible through the collective efforts of the youth and the community.
He also stressed that the selection process is not merely a contest for a throne but a sacred journey guided by divine will, stating, "Only Olodumarè, the Most High, enthrones a king."
Prince Abass urged the kingmakers to remain diligent in adhering to the traditional principles laid out in the 1955 declaration and to ensure a transparent and fair selection process.
He also called for continued peace and unity among the contending princes, the youth, and the larger Ido-Osun community, both during and after the selection process.
Among the other notable candidates vying for the throne are the immediate past Youth Forum President, Prince Wasiu Oyeyemi, DSP Prince Yinka Jokotola, Prince Ven. Idowu Jokotola, and Adeyeye Buliamin.
Despite the intense competition, the youth forum’s endorsement of Prince Abass signals a strong desire for continuity and stability in the kingdom’s leadership.
The decision has drawn considerable attention, as it reflects the youths' determination to ensure that the next Olojudo Alayemore embodies the qualities necessary to carry forward the developmental vision set by the late Oba Dr. Adeen Aderemi Adedapo, the 46th Olojudo Alayemore of Ido-Osun Kingdom.
With the stool vacant since Oba Adedapo's passing in May 2024, the town eagerly anticipates a resolution, as the selection of the next Olojudo Alayemore is a crucial decision that will shape the future of Ido-Osun for generations to come.
