A pouplar Islamic scholar who had memorized the complete Holy Quran, Tafsir and Tajweed Sheikh Abdulwahab Abdul-Hayy, has been confirmed dead.
FACTUAL NAIJA NEWS gathered that the deceased who was aged 54 died in Ilorin on Wednesday after a brief illness.
It was learnt that he has participated in many Quranic competitions before he rose to become a judge.
It also learnt that the late scholar dedicated his life to tutoring of Qur’an recitation, memorization and moral values among younger generations.
In a telephone interview with the Highprofile, one of the close friends of the deceased, Sheikh Dr Saheed Katibi described late Shaikh Abdul-Hayy as a very hardworking, dedicated and committed scholar.
Dr Katibi disclosed that late Shaikh Abdulwahab Abdul-Hayy was an epitome of knowledge, piety, and someone who was very firm in the course Allah.
He said late Shaikh was a great scholar who did not hesitate to correct the wrongs anytime the need arose.
According to him, during the 2018 Musabaqah in Kastina state, a female constant who wore niqob was about to be disqualified for wearing niqob but Shaikh engaged with the officials of the Musabaqah and his intervention gave that female an opportunity to participate, a situation, he said, that served as endorsement for the wearing of niqob till today.
He explained that late Sheikh had contributed tremendously to the growth and development of Qur’anic education and propagation of Islam in general.
Late Sheikh Abdul-Hayy has been buried in accordance with Islamic injunctions at Muslim cemetery, Ilorin, Kwara state Capital.
