A member of the House Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Dr. Adamu Saba Ahmed representing Edu, Moro, Patigi Federal Constituency in the lower Chamber is again disturbed over the perennial flooding in riverine communities along River Niger.
Edu, Moro, Patigi Federal Constituency with an area total size of 8,593 Square kilometer surrounded by River Niger has a population of over 745,839 at population percentage change per annum of 2.6%.
Hon. Dr. Adamu Saba Ahmed is looking forward to a disaster-free 2024 rainy season in spite of the projections of flooding in some state of the federations by the National Meteorological Agency.
To achieve this, the Federal Lawmaker said Enlightenment & Sensitization Committee will be formed in earnest within the Constituency he represents at the lower Chamber to begin to monitor the water level and sensitise residents, especially those in areas that are prone to flooding on the need to be on alert and to move to the upper land area as early safety precaution.
Hon. Dr. Saba, also noted that apart from the planned enlightenment & sensitization, he will as matter of urgent public importance liaise with relevant agency and ministries to put in place logistics to avert disasters usually caused by flood along the River Niger.
Hon. Dr. Saba said enough preparations to avert and mitigate the impact of flooding will be put in place to ensure that the residents of the State are protected.
The Federal Lawmaker assured his preparedness as a lawmaker to put in necessary arrangements to forestall any impending flooding within Edu, Moro, Patigi Federal Constituency.
Hon. Dr. Saba said, "We are aware of the strategic position that Edu, Moro and Patigi Local Government occupies and the impact of flooding in the past, and so; he said as a lawmaker he is determined to ensure his Constituents which he represent will not suffer from flooding".
