The former Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) in Kwara State, Dr Usman Oladipo Akanbi, has emerged as the National President of the writers' body.
The University lecturer defeated his opposing mate, Hajia Farida Adamu Muhammed, the outgoing Vice President of the Association to clinch the number one seat of the Association in an election held on Saturday at the Mamman Vasta Writers Village in Mpappe, Abuja.
In the same vein, the winner of this year's NLNG Prize for Literature and also a university lecturer, Dr Obari Gomba became the Vice President, while Dr Joan Oji emerged as the National General Secretary of the Association.
Also the immediate Past Chairman of ANA Kwara, Mal. Abdur-Rahman Adebayo (ARA) Aderinoye secured the Assistant Secretariat seat.
Other members of the National Executive team are Mike Assoh (Legal Adviser), Stella Toruemi (Treasurer), Keyna Eshika (Financial Secretary), Stephen Kekeghe (Auditor), Matthew Odono (PRO South), Bala Nagidi (PRO North), Maik Ortserga (Ex-Officio 1) and Chimankpa Ogbueri (Ex Officio 2).
Although his victory has not been officially announced as at press time, FACTUAL NAIJA NEWS learnt that they all won in a keenly contested election except Ex-Officio 1, Legal Adviser, Treasurer, and Financial Secretary who emerged unopposed.
