The Kwara State Fire Service on Monday evening recovered a body of about 7 years old, simply identified as Abdull-Hayi, from a domestic well in Tinu Street, Akerebiata area Ilorin, in Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara state.
This is made known in a statement signed by Hassan Adekunle, the Head of Department, Media and Publicity, Kwara State Fire Service, in Ilorin, the state capital.
He said, “Today, Monday 6th November 2023, a Boy of about 7 years old called Abdull-Haayi of Yaa-Lateef House, Tinu Street Akerebiata area Ilorin, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State, fell into a domestic well and recovered died.“The terrible incident occurred this evening at about 17:28hrs (05:28 PM) and the Brigade was Summoned through an exchange Telephone call by One Mr Idowu Living in that neighbourhood.”
However, Firemen were able to recover the dead body from the well and later handed it over to one Mr Yussuf, a family member of the deceased.
FACTUAL NAIJA NEWS gathered that the victim boy went to fetch water at the well and during the process of fetching one of his legs suddenly slipped off the ground and eventually tumbled down into the well.
To this end, the State Director of Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed his sadness over the incident.
He urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities.
Prince Olumuyiwa also charged them to desist from sending under aged children to fetch water in a domestic well.
