Argentina and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has won a record-extending eight Ballon d’Or award.
Messi picked up the award at the 2023 ceremony held on Monday, October 30 at the Theater du Chatelet in Paris, France.
The former Barcelona captain finished ahead of Erling Haaland, who placed second and Kylian Mbappe who was third.
Kevin De Bruyne was fourth, Rodri placed fifth, in sixth position was Vinicius Junior, Julian Alvarez was seventh, Victor Osimhen finished eight, at number nine is Bernardo Silva while Luka Modrić completed the top 10.
For the 2023 Women’s Ballon d’Or award Barcelona and Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmati emerged winner.
In other awards, Barcelona won Women’s Club of the Year, Manchester City won Men’s Club of the Year, Jude Bellingham got the Kopa Trophy, the Yacine trophy went to Emiliano Martinez, Haaland was awarded the Gerd Muller trophy and Vinicius got the Socrates award.
