The Kwara State Fire Service said that it
saved property estimated at N765.6 million in three fire incidents that
occurred in different parts of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Christmas
Day.
The fire outbreaks affected three
residential buildings in which property worth N37.4million was destroyed.
According to the state fire service, two of
the buildings were affected simultaneously which firemen succeeded in putting
out.
A statement by the Head of Media and
Publicity of the State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle, made available to FACTUAL
NAIJA NEWS on Monday said, “The Kwara State Fire Service attended to three
different fire incidents on Sunday, 25th of December 2022. All the three
outbreaks were residential in which the two out of it happened simultaneously.
“The first one was at Alhaji Umar’s house
(at the) Balogun Fulani Area of Ilorin, where two shops were affected in the
building comprising 10 rooms and four shops. “The first one was at Alhaji

affected in the building comprising 10 rooms and four shops.
“The other two incidents occurred at Okoosi
Compound, opposite Grace Lodge Hotel Coca-Cola Road, Ilorin, and Abolarinwa
house behind Henry George Hotel, Adewole Area, respectively.
“In all these fire incidents, firemen were
able to perform an excellent job by quickly eliminating the ravaging inferno on
time and saving many properties from them.
“Report says the fire outbreaks were as a
result of electric power surge.
“The total estimated property lost in the
three incidents is N34.4 million, while the total estimated property saved is
N765.6 million.”
Adekunle said that the Director, Kwara
State Fire Service, Prince Falade Olumuyiwa, urged the general public to be
safety-conscious during the festive period as he had earlier warned them before
the Christmas celebration.
