The chairman of ASUU in IMSU, Odinakachukwu Ejiogu, in a telephone conversation in Owerri, said that they were still part of the ASUU’s nationwide strike.
Ejiogu, who was reacting to the announcement made by the
Public Relations Officer of the varsity, Ralph Obinjoku, calling on lecturers
and students to resume academic activities immediately, said that IMSU ASUU
chapter was only answerable to the national body.
He said that the university’s lecturers would continue to be
on strike until the national body of the union said otherwise.
Ejiogu said, “We have not pulled out of the ASUU strike. We
are not back to the classroom either. We will continue to be on strike until
the national body of ASUU says otherwise. It is not within the capacity of the
University Public Relations Officer or the Vice Chancellor to call-off the
strike.”
